Food Systems Transformation through Agroecology

Introduction

The three-year funding and support provided to the Agroecology TPP by the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED) supports the Agroecology TPP’s ultimate goal to fundamentally transform food systems through mainstreaming the 13 HLPE principles of agroecology, thereby making agricultural and food systems more sustainable, equitable, and resilient, all the while contributing to achieving food and nutrition security and economic prosperity for all without crossing planetary boundaries.

Aim

This project aims to accelerate food systems transformation through agroecology, thereby actively contributing to food and nutrition security as well as economic prosperity – without overshooting planetary boundaries.

More specifically, the LED’s support seeks to provide the means for the Agroecology TPP to live up to its full potential and speed up agroecological transitions globally through stakeholder coordination, harnessing of synergies, and effective and inclusive science-policy interface.

Project Scope and Timeline

The LED project runs from July 2023 – December 2026.

Outcomes

Specific outcomes of this project include:

  1. Effective collaboration among food systems to address critical knowledge and implementation gaps to accelerate agroecological transitions in low- and middle-income countries.
  2. Key policy makers and donors engage with other Agroecology TPP members on agroecological approaches to ensure improved soil health and crop productivity in Africa with a focus on LED priority countries.
  3. Policy makers and civil society organizations in Agroecology Coalition member countries track implementation of the CFS policy recommendations on agroecology.
